Program Description:

The Tree Planting & Agriculture Program aims to address a lack of tree cover and locally grown food product in Haiti. Currently, Haiti has less than 2 percent tree cover and imports roughly 70 percent of its food.

Through this program, Yéle Haiti works with local farmers to increase their crop capacity, educate them on progressive farming techniques, and provide them with both high yield crop and tree seeds. Concurrently, Yéle Haiti creates a market for these items by commissioning a portion of their harvest for consumption through the Nutrition of Kids project.
