Projects:

Food Distribution

STATUS: implemented May 2005 to January 2008 / completed

Regular distribution of free food from the World Food Programme feeding families in Cité Soleil, Bel Air and other slums.

NEED: poverty pushes people to despair, but hunger leads to hopelessness – the UN estimates 40% of families in Haiti are currently malnourished.

RESPONSE: ration cards are distributed in post conflict areas, allowing women and children to come and collect food for their families (no men are allowed to carry food from the distribution points). This project provides 900 families with basic sustenance (rice, beans, bottle of oil and salt) through this initiative.
